These thoughts were shared during the Georgian Maltese Cultural evening held at Intercontinental Malta on 11.4.22 ... every opportunity is a great opportunity to promote values like love and peace!

Through the Tint
I have been looking
through the tinted glass ...
Now it’s been too long,
almost too painful indeed ...
Distanced away from the real world
I felt the pain of isolation,
the shame of humiliation,
the anguish of internal mitigation...
I believed I had lost sight
of what meant to live and love
just because I had been
too far away from human contact.
Technology made it possible
to see beyond the tint,
or that’s what I thought ...
then amidst conflicting messages
of peace and war,
cyberbullying and body shaming,
hate speech and keyboard anger shattered
all over the blessed screen,
I realised that I was still
behind another tinted glass ...
Had I lost sight or
had everyone else lost
perspective of true values and beliefs?
All of a sudden,
I felt the urge
to break through the glass,
to reach out to the hearts
to break out from this forced social media.
It cannot be!
It doesn’t work this way!
Have we lost diologue over greed?
Have we lost perspective over illusion?
Have we lost vision over self-centredness?
Have we lost our true soul to
the zombie creatures of modern technology?
And as I reach out
and try to see what we have in common,
I realise there are too many built walls;
too many obstacles; too many excuses ...
so I pull up my socks
and breach this stupid
new human protocol,
engulfing my pride
whilst carrying all that surrounds me:
art, nature, poetry
and let the sea waves carry me
onto the other side:
the colourful side of endless dreams,
the place where hearts reunite,
where minds are free to voice their thoughts
and ears are meant to listen intently!
Thank you for making this happen ♡
